Prop Making and Propateering

As I said yesterday, there are parts of a puppet ministry other than puppeteering. One of those parts is making and doing props. Props are used to make certain parts of a song stand out and to show importance to those parts of the song.
Making props take time as you either have to make letters or pictures for all of the props. Some songs have a lot of props, so those songs obviously will take longer to make than songs that are lighter on props. Being that some people are more artistic than others, there are ways to make prop making easier. One of those things is using something known as a Cricket machine. This is a di-cut machine that will cut the paper that you run through it enough to be able to punch out the letters that you typed into the machine. Another thing that makes prop making easier is being able to project a picture onto the poster board and being able to trace it. Therefore, even if you are not an excellent drawer, you can still make good picture props.
Propateering is actually doing the props in the song. Propateering takes a lot of listening and timing. You have to listen to the song carefully so you know when to go up with the sign. If you go up at the wrong time, it can be extremely noticeable, especially if it is a sign that goes along with a sign someone else is doing. However, when the props go up at the right time, it can really add to the song.

Think of props as the things that you emphasize in your life, the things you want people to see in you. Are those things that you tried your best in in life? If they are what you want people to see in you, then you want to do what you can to make those parts of you better. That being said, where do you get our inspirations from? Do you base who you are off the Bible and what God wants from you, are do you try and do things on your own? God is giving you the cues and timings of who you should be, but if you aren't listening and you aren't paying attention, then you could miss something that God has planned for you.
